JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION [JEE]

Joint Entrance Examination [JEE] generally known as IIT-JEE, is a national level computerized/based Entrance Examination/Test conducted by Natural Testing Agency [NTA] for admission to various Undergraduate Programs in Engineering / Technology, Architecture and Planning in the Premier Technical Institutions In India. It is constituted by two different examinations named as JEE Main and ‘the JEE Advanced’ JEE Main Comprises two papers. Paper I is conducted for admission to Undergraduate [UG] Programs [B.Tech/BE] at National Institutes of Technology [NITs], International Institutes of Information Technology [IIITs] other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes/[CFTIs] and Institutions Universities Funded/ recognized by the participating State governments. JEE Main is also an Eligibility Test for JEE Advanced which is conducted for Indian Institutes of Technology [IITs] Paper II is conducted for admission to B. Arch. and B. Planning Courses. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority [JoSAA] conducts the Joint Admission Process on the basis of merit list in the JEE Main/Advanced for a total of 23IITs, 31 NITs, 25IIITs and other Govt. Funded Technical Institutes [GFTIs] based on the rank obtained in JEE Main or JEE Advanced depending on the Engineering Institute/College (this case may be). There are some Institutes such as the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research [IISERs], the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy [IIPE] the Rajeev Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology [RGIPT] Indian Institute of Science and Technology [IIST] and Indian Institute of Science [IISc] which use the score obtained in the JEE Advanced Examination as the basis of admission but, not a part of Joint Seat Allocation Authority [JoSAA] Counseling Process. Any student who takes admission in an IIT cannot appear for JEE Advanced Examination again, but the same is not the case with NIT, IISc, IISERs, RGIPT, IIPE and IIST. Joint Entrance Examinations[JEE] will be conducted in two sessions for admissions in the next academic session. Students are given chance to appear either in the first or second or both sessions. However, if a candidate appears in more than one session his/her best of the JEE [Main] -NTA Score will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/Ranking. It is adversable to appear in the two sessions to reduce the chances of droping a year.
