National Talent Search Examination is a National Scholarship Programme in India. The purpose is to identify and nurture talented students. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in specialized areas. It covers areas like Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honours and helps talented students by providing Financial Assistance in the form of a monthly Scholarship. For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided upto Ph.D. level. For Professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law, this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation.

The NTSE is conducted every year at two levels Stage I, Preliminary State level conducted by SCERT and Stage II, Main -National level conducted by NCERT. Students who qualify the Preliminary State level Exam will be eligible to appear for the Main-National Level Exam.

Eligibilty Criteria


As per the criteria laid out by CBSE, NTSE is open to the students of Indian Nationality irrespective of students in India or Abroad at class 10th Level. Indian students abroad are exempted from the Ist level examination and are permitted to appear directly at the 2nd Level examination in the National Level .

The candidate should be a student in a recogonised school in the respective State or Union Teritory to be eligible for the 1st Level exam and must have secured a minimum of 60% of marks in class IX

The Open Distance Learning (ODL) program students below 18 years of age as on 1st July in the year of appearance will also be considered if they are unemployed when appearing for the 10th Exam.

Only students who secure the minimum prescribed Score in the 1st level exam is eligibe for 2nd level exam.

NTSE Exam Pattern


The Questions are available in English and Hindi medium. Student can opt any of these at their interest.

The paper is divided into two sections. Mental Ability Test(MAT), and Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT) Exam is in the offline mode with Multiple Choice Questions .There is no negative marking.

General category candidate have to secure 40% and reservation/ Reserved Catagory 32% to Qualify test.

NTSE Syllabus


NTSE Exam is based on class 9 th and 10th syllabus. It covers the whole spectrum of 9th and 10th Level study subjects like Mathematics, Basic Science, Social Science, English , General Knowledge and Mental Ability.

NTSE Reservation


1. 15% for students belonging to SC catagory.

2. 7.5% for students belonging to ST catagory.

3. 27% for students belonging to OBC catagory.

4. 4% for physically challenged.

NTSE SCHOLARSHIP


Rs 1250/- pm for 11th & 12th and Rs 2000/- pm for Graduation and Higher studies. Further

1) NTSE Scholars get preference in the NDA Exam.

2) IIIT Hyderabad which is equvalent to IIT Bombay offers 15% seats to NTSE Scholars .

3)IIIT Delhi gives bonus marks to NTSE Scholars.

4) NTSE Scholars will have an upper edge for admissions in Foreign Universities and preference in various Public and Private sector Jobs.
